Club History

A small group of men began discussing the idea of creating a private club in Magnolia that would take advantage of the cool ocean breezes, the fine sandy beach, and the magnificent vistas of the harbor that would provide a spot where they could rendezvous for social activities and athletics.

Since opening on June 20, 1913- for 109 years the Manchester Bath & Tennis Club has served as a gracious vacation center for its membership whose activities may run from spirited physical competition to just plain relaxing. Designed by the architectural firm of Andrew, Jaques & Rantoul, the main hall reminds one of an old English guild hall with its huge open fireplaces at either end and massive beamed ceilings. The varied summer programs include a wide range of activities and social functions which appeal to all ages. Tournaments, swimming competitions and themed celebrations are important traditions that occur annually at the Manchester Bath & Tennis Club. Ours is a proud heritage - one that we pass on to our children and grandchildren.
